Title: What can someone tell me about Herter's Super model 3 press?
Post by: srcjahc on April 13, 2003, 03:37:58 PM
Can anyone tell me something about the old Herter's Super Model 3 press? I want to use Hornady .357 titanium dies. Would that be a problem? Thanks.

I have the Herter's Model 3A tool. I'm not sure just what difference there may be between it and the Model Super tool.
I've been using mine for over 40 years;it's my favorite for heavy duty sizing. My RCBS is used for pistol sized cartridges.
I know that the model 3A has a brace that converts it to an "O" frame tool;but the older,Model 3 does not.
When it was new,I F/L resized thousands of 30'06 rounds for Hi Power shooting without using the "O" frame brace.

Using the dies should be no problem, the size and thread is standard and has been for years.  The problem may be the shellholder, as Herter's used their own design.  If you don't have one, I think RCBS makes a converter, to convert the Herter's to the standard.

TS,
The shellholder is no problem,either.
Go to www.vegatool.com. They can supply any Herter's shellholder, and they are good quality, also. It is much better then the adaptor.
