New to Coyote Trapping
« on: October 05, 2006, 10:02:51 AM »
I do a far amount of muskrat trapping every year, but I've never trapped coyote before. I've purchased a couple coil spring Victor #2 traps to get me started, I've prepped them and their ready to go. What I need is a good source of information on different sets to do. Does anyone have a good source of information to turn to, a good book or video, or shall I get out there and let trial and error be my teach? Any information will be helpful. Thanks!

HBF, please  describe the nbr 2 victors you mentioned you are going to be using for yote trapping .  I dont want you  to  have  the wrong type of victor nbr 2.  If it is a square jaw old style, please dont use it as a yote will trash it and you wont have anything  when you come to check trap..  If it is the newer nbr 2 round jaw okay but would advise you  to use 8 inches or less of chain  with  minimum of two swivels and either cross stake or earth anchor, or drag  trap.

I have the newer style with rounds jaws and my chains each have 2 swivels that are 6" long. I'm hoping these will work. If you have any other information I can be reached at jgridley37@yahoo.com thanks.
