Helical Fluting Bolt
« on: October 20, 2006, 05:37:54 PM »
Is there anyone out there that can Helical Flute my bolt? If so what types can you do? Savage, A-bolt, Rem??? Looking at a new lightweight 243 Win. and that weight might be helpfull. Also if they can do bolts, would they be able to Helical flute the barrel?

Thanks

There is a maker taht builds helically fluted barrels. Advertises in GunList all the time...just can't name it just now. To do a bolt would require a fairly interesting setup, but could be done. While you're at it I'd have the bolt handle skeletonized.. Also I assume you're building this as a blind magazine rifle.. If not you can save a bunch of weight there..
