CZ Ringneck 28 Gauge - Where can I find one in stock?
« on: September 13, 2006, 03:39:41 AM »
Anyone know of any place in western NY or northwest PA that stocks them in 28 gauge?  I just hate to buy something like that without seeing & handling the exact one I'll be buying.

Thanks.  -WSJ

Answered my own question:  Beikirch's Ammunition in East Rochester.

Figured I'd post it here in case others in the area might want to go look at one instead of order a la Dicks or Gander Mountain.

Others may want to know that the CZ-USA website also has a "dealer locator" that works by zip code.

Good luck!

Yeah, I knew about the dealer locator but it's really not much help since there are a lot of dealers and precious few that stock a SxS 28 gauge.  About 25 different places were willing to order one for me but I just won't buy something like that without handling the one I end up with.  It's just different than ordering a stainless & synthetic something or other.  -WSJ

When I picked up my Bobwhite 20 gauge, the gun shop owner told me that CZ had called the shop earlier that week saying: "Don't place any more orders through the end of the year".

Guess the good news in that is the guns are selling well and the factory is booked...   The bad news being new orders may be seriously delayed or not accepted at all.  FYI, I once had a shop transfer a gun to a shop nearer to me, with the understanding that I'd buy it if it met my needs upon inspection; it did, so I was all set.  Maybe you can wrangle a deal like that, so you do get to inspect it before you commit. If it's something that will sell even if you don't buy, you might be able to get them to help.

Either way, good luck with your hunt for a 28.

Well I made the plunge and just bought one of the danged things after the folks at Beikirchs were kind enough to let me look at sevaral.  Of course the first one out of the storeroom was the nicest looking and the one I ended up with.  I am extremely pleased with the way it looks and feels.

A couple friends and I ran 3 boxes of shells through it with no malfunctions and, at least for the 2 of them, good success on clay birds (I couldn't hit anything but I have those days).  They both broke birds with authority and regularity with both barrels using #7 1/2 reloads and thought it was a pretty cool little gun.

If I can figger out how I'll post some photos of the actual shotgun.

Thanks for the input and encouragement (like I really need that to buy another gun!).  -WSJ
