Bow season opened this past Saturday, but I hadn't sighted in my bow so I didn't go out. Sunday hunting isn't allowed in this county, but I went out and sat in a tree on Monday. I saw a gray fox, a hawk, chipmunks and squirrels, and 13 antlerless deer.
Three of them walked right under my tree stand, but they were really small. Probably just got rid of their spots. Some of the does were decent, but it's too early in the season to settle for one of those.
It rained all day on Tuesday, and I won't hunt if the blood trail might be washed away.
Looks like the deer population in West Virginia is still out of control even though they have a very liberal harvest limit on antlerless deer.
Keep your broadheads sharp!
