Any opinions on the best loader and maybe load for the .410 21/2" shell. Would consider a progressive but don't want any of he problems I had with an old 800B Ponsness-Warren. Ponsness-Warren makes a single stage Ime waiting to see but wonder if its really worth the 270.00. Thanks. :grin:

Hey Bad Bob. I have been reloading 410 3" shells on the mec jr. for a few years. The mec works great. Now I have a P/W 375C single stage that I reload 12 gauge on. I just ordered some 410 dies and another tool head for it and it should be in this week. I will let you know how it reloads. As far as reloading for the 12 gauge, it works great and every load looks like factory. For all of my reloading of 410, I've been using Winchester CF hulls, H110 or 296, WAA410 wads, and Win 209 primers. I don't remember the powder charge, but all of that is on hodgdon's or winchester's website. You save alot, I mean alot of money reloading the 410. I think I was saving about $5 a box. I don't know what to do with hulls now that winchester has changed them. I guess I will just have to stock up on CF hulls. But then again, maybe the new hulls will be better to reload. Have fun reloading.

I will second the MEC 600 JR, that is what I use for 2 1/2 shells ant it workes great

:lol: Well I got my 410 dies for the 375C P/W. I reloaded some 410
2 1/2" shells and they turned out great. The crimp start and final crimp was prefect. Might have even been better than the factory crimps. The 375 is a well made machine that will probably last forever and I think it is better than the MEC as far as crimping goes because it is easier to adjust and use than the MEC. What I really like is that you can change gauges so easy with the way they have the die system set up. Changing dies on a MEC is not to fun, so most people just buy another machine. Both the MEC and the P/W work great and it is really a matter of deciding what price you want to pay. I use both the 375 and the sizemaster now, and they work great for different things.
