Rabbits everywhere...
« on: June 13, 2004, 06:38:33 AM »
It was a great morning. We stumbled on to a bunch of the little critters this morning on a grassy road through a sugar cane field. My daughter and I each fired once - two rabbits in the cooler - two head shots. Both at about 40 yards. She has a 10/22 using CCI Velocitors, i had a Marlin 883SS and CCI Maxi Mags. We need a couple more so my wife can make a casserole.

daddywpb,

Rabbit populations run on a 7 year cycle.  There was a big die off about 3-4 years ago so this year should be good and get even better for the next few years.  Went by my favorite Brush Bunny patch a few days ago and we are going to have a great crop of young bunnies for the freezer this year.  Going to have a ball with our pellet rifles this fall filling the freezer.  Lawdog

Lawdog,
Sounds like fun. I've never seen so many here in one place. We're going to head out there again next weekend. We're also trying for the first time to tan the hides - something new for me. Can't wait to see how they come out.
