Which Tumbler to Buy
« on: October 09, 2006, 07:28:45 AM »
I am looking into getting a tumbler and I didn't know which brand or model to buy.  I just wanted to get some opinions.

Lyman Auto-Flo

Ditto.
I had one from Midway that gave out after almost 20 years. I replaced it with the Auto flo. It saves having to dump into a separator

The FA from Midway is a budget tumbler that works very well for me, I paid $40 for mine,  I use an old BBQ vegetable stir fry pan to sift the media out, for my volume of reloading, I'm very happy with it.

I got an RCBS.  Works great, but with my model I have to dump into a spinner sifter.  1st one I bought was a Franklin,  lasted 2 years and tanked.  Won't but another one.

I have a frankford arsonal a dillon and a lyman the only one thats ever gave up the ghost on me is a the first lyman i had. But i dont know how many thousands of times it ran. i love my dillon because its HUGE and sure cuts down on the time i fool with tumbling, especially when im shooting 45acps. A guy can go out and shoot a 1000 rounds and dump them all in in one load.

Another vote for the Midway. Been trying to kill mine for nine years and can't do it. ::)

I really think most any would suit your needs.but how much brass are ya gunna do?I have had only one.and I bought it when it 1st came out and I saw it.(I was useing chemical cleaners that worked pretty good that can still be bought and used today specificaly for brass cartridges)I have the Dillion large bowl with the big cage screen and box. to sift the median out from the brass.it has worked for years.I do a lot of brass.so it works for me.the smaller ones would take way to long.

I purchased my Midway tumbler back in '94. I never experienced any problems with it, but due to a product recall, I sent mine back for the safety issue to be corrected at no charge. I'm still using it without any problems.
If at first you don't succeed, by all means try again. But if this doesn't work, give up, because there is no sense in making a darn fool of yourself.

Well for a while there I was using a cement mixer that I had Armacoated inside, and that worked really great for a while, but it was made in China and after having the motor fixed twice I gave it away. I tend to load 1000 rounds of M2 ball at a time, and do a lot of shooting with my Garands, so this was pretty nice to have while it lasted.
