What base to start with
« on: October 16, 2006, 10:36:49 AM »
Ok I tried the search tool, but I have never had any luck with it. I want to buy and NEF and then add barrels to it. Bull barrels, shotgun (riflred) and muzzle load. What base will handle all of these? Ultra hunter, Ultra Varmit, standard handi? Thanks!

Welcome to GBO! Do you mean frame, aka receiver? The SB2 frames on the Handi, Ultra and BC are all the same, cept the BC is case colored. Any SB2 frame built before '99 can't be fitted by H&R with any high pressure caliber, those asterisked on the acc barrel list. This info is in the FAQ and Help sticky, be sure to read it, most of your answers are in there. ;)

IMO if you want a shotgun barrel you'd be better of to buy a seperate gun.  The cost of the barrel and shipping comes in pretty close to what the NEF Pardner sells for new at Walmart.  A used 12 gauge NEF can be found in the $50.00 to $75.00 range.

Just a thought, others may feel differently.

But is that for a rifled barrel?

No, that's for a regular shotgun.  The rifled barrels are $58.00 but I'd still consider getting an SB1 frame for the rifled barrel.
