Question about Stevens Crack Shot-26

I have a Stevens Crack Shot -26 and right above where this is written there is the word second. does anyone know what that means? Thanks in advance.

 It was not unusual in the early years for gun companies to sell "seconds" at a reduced price. Usually the imperfections were hard to find, and always they did not affect strength. I would guess the gun's mark to indicate this is what your gun was when it sold new, and was so marked to eliminate it coming back for warranty.
