who can shorten a barrel?

Is there anyone that you guys could  recommend to shorten a barrel down to 18 or 19 inches.  I want to try to keep the rifle short and “Handi”. :)

Brownells has a kit that will work.  You hack off the barrel a little longer then you want and then there is a piloted crown cutter that you put in a drill.  NRA rifleman showed doing this to a 22lr in there magazine last month (think it was last month).  Of just find someone with a metal lathe.  I did an AR-15 barrel for my dad on a lathe at a place I use to work, I still am pretty good friends with the manager and they have a full machine shop in the buisness.

My friend has a lathe.  He did a barrel for my SKS and did a great job.  I just didn’t know if this was the proper way to do it. My friend has a lathe.  He did a barrel for my SKS and did a great job.  I just didn’t know if this was the proper way to do it.  So I guess I will just  have him do it.

Cut it off a little long with a hack saw, then do your own finish work, if it doesn't come out right, take it to a smith and have him fix it. There's a bunch of fellas that have done their own at RFC, no one had a problem with it, surprisingly. A couple had to do a couple touch ups, but it worked fine.

If you want a Smith to do it, my friend Terry here does good work and likes to work on Handis. His prices are very fair and he does good work.
Shoot him an email...
