glock 22.3.5 triggerpull connecter opinions
« on: January 03, 2007, 02:20:18 PM »
i have a glock 22 40s/w that has the factory 5 pound trigger pull.wanting to get the 3.5 pound part that makes it have a 3.5 pound pull.is the lighter trigger pull as safe as the factory 5 pound pull.the factory pul is heavy compared to my varmint rifles with 1 to 3 pound trigger pulls.i have been carrying this glock for 5 years now always with a round in the chamber for ccw.never had it discharge yet.i feel with the lighter pull i can get better scores on a police target.

spispeza,
The 3.5# connector is quite safe as long as you keep your finger off the trigger untill you are ready to fire. The lighter trigger does make the gun easier to shoot well. If you are LE I would leave the trigger stock. Most departments do not allow modifications to duty weapons.

My Glock 23 has the 3.5 connector installed.  If you use the gun primarily for carry, I would leave the 5lb connector in.  I would worry a bit with the lighter pull if my adrenaline was pumping and finger on the trigger.  If it's a target gun, it is much easier to target shoot well.

As a corollary, I did NOT find that the lighter trigger increased my accuracy much when going rapid fire (ie, if I was trying to put 3 center-of-mass on a bad guy).

My G22 has about 4.5 pull and shooting in computition I have had it go off twice when only wanting it to go off once. It was a safe shot but a wasted bullet.

I've got a 3.5# in my G35.  I was allowed to use it as my duty weapon with a NY#1 (orange) trigger spring.  It made a sweet DOA like trigger.  I set up my daughters G19 the same way.

I did not see higher scores in my LEO cources or IDPA courses with the G35 and the 3.5#.  I did see a higher time due to the longer sight plane.
