FYI..took a man out this weekend to hunt oryx in N.M.,we went early sat morning and saw 20 plus animals, all worthy of the freezer and even mounting.made a couple stalks and nothing panned out.the vegatation has gotten really tall with all the abnormal amouts of rain we have had.we headed out again sunday and at 0850 we spotted two nice animals facing us out in a field of grass that was 3' tall. Both looked to be real nice animals.we decided the one on the left was better.and had time to lase while the hunter made ready.they were at 165 yards.the hunter was shooting a McMillan Custom .375H&H, trophy bonded bear claws.the bullet went through the right side of the chest taking the heart and lungs and going into the pelvis.the animal RAN 78 yards and expired.measured 38 3/4" very nice Bull.they are a very tough animal.and trying to make folks that get lucky and come here to hunt them understand that they are one of the toughest things they may ever encounter and that the anatomy is differnt then any animal in the u.s..and to us a very tough bullet normally falls on deaf ears.(I allways recomend Barnes or Sirracco's @ 180 grains or better.)
The Hunter was pleased with his hunt and knew that he had shot an exceptional animal.
