Shrouded barrels
« on: October 28, 2006, 02:40:15 AM »
What is the internal makeup of a shrouded barrel?

I know what I am visualizing and it isn't called a "shroud" ::)

Thanks

Tom

On my Talon SS, it is just open I.D. tube with an end cap at the muzzle end of the internal barrel, and one at the muzzle end of the shroud. Very effective... unless you remove the outer cap, then it is as loud as a .22lr.

I had an Air Arms 400 that was shrouded and it had several plastic baffles inside the shroud. It was permanently attached. Very quiet rifle. The hammerspring was about all you'd hear. Accurate too.
