laser cast bullets ??

GDAY.Friends .......just finished loading some 45-70 laser cast bullets that came in the mail yesterday ...I was just wondering if anybody out there has any experience with them on big game ...what is their performance like ...??.......do they break  apart...??...........or mushroom like most other bullets...............davey

I use the 300 gr laser cast in my Redhawk 45 colt. I have shot any thing but targets with them. I did take one on the back porch and hit it with a hammer. No visible damage. I think there gonna be pretty tough.

I've shot them in 45 cal at deer and they make an audible smack. Never found a bullet. I don't know if that helps

opatriot, the typical action of a cast slug (for hunting especially) is to maintain it's shape through thick skin, tough muscle, and bone.  A typical hunting bullet made out of hard cast material is most likely to punch all the way through the animal.  That's actually one of a cast bullet's good points: penetration.  The benefit comes not from expansion but having a larger meplat (nose.)  When you have that big flat point driving through, it attempts to punch a near full-caliber hole through the tissue.  One last note is that the bullet will likely not expand as it's not designed to; it is also unlikely to break apart since it has a more integrated structure.  I hope this helps clear things up.  BTW, I've shot Oregon Trail's bullets, and have grown a liking to them.  I have found them to be a less expensive yet good quality alternative to plated bullets.

I've had good luck with 300-grain Laser Cast .452 bullets. A week ago I shot a nice four-point whitetail out of a .45 Colt - class wildcat using this bullet. It was a quartering-away shot. The bullet entered at the rear of the ribcage angling forward, smashed the liver and a lung tip, and exited. Both holes were about the same size. The organ cavity of the deer was a bucket of blood. The deer got maybe 50 - 60 yards. The bullet worked quite well.
