405 win

is the 405 better than the old war horse 45-70? ballistically. How hard is it to rechamber one to buffalo rifle or Handi? thanks for the imput guys.

You can't rechamber a .45-70 BC to .405Win but a .38-55 Target can be rechambered and bored to .405 Win, I had mine done. Ballistically, there's not much difference, see Dave Hall's thread down the page on the subject. Cost will be $300-$350 for a rechamber/rebore.
