« on: October 18, 2006, 07:44:18 PM »
Finally got out with my metal detector.First hunt I found a 1938 Canadian penny.I'm hooked. After our duck and goose hunt in the A.M. we're going to an old baseball field with wooden bleachers south of my farm house.
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

Aha, you got the  fever!.  Check around where creeks or two river come together on the highest ground ( thats where camps would have been).  Check old maps , Late 1800 early 1900 vintage and see if you can figure hot spots out... Alot of places  modern towns are built on the GOOD camp sites.

My south pasture is the old mill site.Due east of my place 100 yards is the old train depot. The Cavalry traveled along the Big Muddy when they went north of the Missouri river, now I just have to research camp sites. It's been raining and snowing, the gumbo is getting nasty. It looks like I'll be making frozen mudhole sets for coyotes here pretty quick.
