I haven't found any other than Barnes. Hornady is supposed to start selling them after they catch up with demand for their LeverEvolution loads.

Other then the Barnes, the only other spitzer's I've seen are some really heavy cast slugs.

I too cant wait for them to get the LeverEvolution slugs out.  I prefer lightweight slugs in my 45-70's.  A spitzer would be nice for groundhog in my BC, flatter tragectory, retained velocity at greater ranges..  ...oh yeah!  I might save a few pennies next summer by not having to walk as many in on whistlepigs.

Are you sure that you have ENOUGH gun for those saber tooth PD's? ;D
shot placement is everything.

I donno... some of these woodchuck here in Jefferson Co. PA get to the size of our whitetails.  lol

I've been using 45-70's on groundhog ever since I discovered the old Springfield Trapdoor in the gun closet out at the farm as a kid.  I now use a number of NEF/H&R rifles on them: 22 Hornet, .225 Winchester(former 22" Hornet barrel), .223 Ultra Varm., 30-30, 45-70 Handi and my 45-70 BC.

Most of this past summer I used my newest, the 223 with the custom wood I finished over last winter. (thanks Quick).

With 45-70's, like any other heavier cartridge, you gotta be extra careful of whats behind your target.   A woodchuck isn't gonna slow down a 300-500gr .458 slug very much.     I usually hollow out some 300gr JHPs to about 240-260grs with a jig I made for a drill press.   I get a few more feet per second, and a somewhat more explosive result on the other end.

North Fork makes a 350gr semi-spitzer, but at over $1 a piece, they aren't for plinking and they're made for ruger level velocities. They also make a 400gr and 450gr, but I won't even show them, they're made for DG .458" calibers. :o

try the Saeco (Redding ) #023    -378 grain - works good for me in both my singleshots  H&R Shikari & Browning 1885 - I did have to have the throet in the 1885 relievs a bit for this one - it has a full dia nose - not relieved with a wiper band like most - and it looks great in the bandoleer ( style points at the cowboy shoots )
also there is the LYMAN 457658 - but this is a 480 grain - probably good for BPCR - that's what I want one for but don't have yet
