Good Day Bad Day
« on: October 21, 2006, 08:55:37 PM »
Just got home from getting checked out at the emergency room. While out hunting with a friend and looking for a deer I had shot,  a nubbin buck he was not huge but decent for a nubbin buck.   my left hand went numb and tingly. I thouht ok this is not cool but I had no major pain though some minor chest discomfort. When we got back to town  it was still bothering me so I went in the emergency room to get it checked out. Found out my heart is fine they did a electrocardiogram that checked out good as did a chest xray. Did a ton of blood work. Final prognosis was my acid reflux disease got worse and that can cause the symptoms I had and it can even mimic heart problems. So got more antacids to take care of that problem. Good news is I broke in the Wolverine on this small buck and my buddy shot a nice doe late this afternoon too.  I have still two doe tags at least plus a either or tag. And I have not bought my rifle tag yet that will still give me more doe tags so I figured why not got lots of tags to fill.  :D  All I can say is the Excaliber worked flawlessly the deer never moved until the arrow hit him. Then it left a really good blood trail. The deer was facing me but at an angle so I figured I could still put one in his chest. I guess he was not quite the angle I figured as the arrow hit the front of his neck where it joins the chest and went in to the nock into his chest with the arrow going into the boiler room and the broadhead winding up cutting into the diaphram. I know if he would have been more broadside I would have had a pass through. Still he left a blood trail that was easy to follow at a walking pace. I think besides the boiler room I took out the artery in his neck too.  Broadhead was a 4 blade which my friend thought may have been a Koplin????? I do not know I have had them for several years in a box with out the packaging but they sure did the job on this one. They fly well too.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
