My Little Pardner...
« on: October 15, 2006, 12:42:05 PM »
Today was the first block shoot at my club this year.

It's a 66ft shoot using Rem Gun Club 7.5 shells.  Pretty much anything goes and there were some crazy custom shotguns with scopes, red-dots, custom 36"+ barrels, etc.  My  24" pardner with a hastings turkey choke definitely held its own.  Both my father and I shot it today, as his is back at the factory getting that nice vent rib barrel.  I managed to bring home a nice ham and 5 lb block of cheese.  My dad won a pork tenderloin and a block of cheese.  More importantly than having a great little gun and raising some money for my club, I got to spend a great day shooting with my dad.

Thanks guys.  It was a great day out.

The more I shoot this guy, the more I love it.  This morning I brought it with me to the range to shoot a few slugs.  I put in a imp cyl choke and shot a $1.99 box of Brenneke KO 12 ga 2 3/4" slugs.  The 5 shot group was 3.5" with 4 shots in 2 5/8"  This was done from a standing unsupported hold at 50 yds using the front bead.  The guy standing next to me just looked at me and said "Yup, that deer is dead." and laughed a bit.  All in all, it was a fun morning.  I think I'm gonna have to go get some more slugs.  They were fun.

lotus,

That is some outstanding shooting from a bead sighted smoothbore. Those Brenneke's sure cut a nice hole, in paper and deer. Good luck this season.
