winchester 1886 limited misfires
« on: November 01, 2006, 06:48:19 AM »
Has anyone found a fix for light primer strikes with the rebounding hammer?

Thanks,
Wally

Yes!  For liability reasons, I won't go into detail, but you need to read the article, entitled Winchester Tang Safety, at pp. 6-12  of issue #210, Nov 2003, of "Rifle" magazine.  This was in the "Spotting Scope" section by Dave Scovill.  Go online at www.riflemagazine.com and you may be able to get a back issue.  I had misfires with my new USRAC M1886, but carefully did the modifications and have had none since in both my 1886 and 1895.  Good luck.
