Winchester model 94 question
« on: October 18, 2006, 09:49:52 AM »
I've had a good number of 30-30s pass through my hands over the years.  Sold a nice 336 a few years ago and gave my dies and components to a youngster just getting started.  Today I had the itch for an iron sighted carbine so I called my favorite store and they had a couple of 94s and a Marlin.  While I was there a gentleman came in and sold a 1953 vintage 94.  It was covered with dust, showed blueing wear from being carried many a mile and had a perfect bore.  No scratches, dings or cracks in the wood.  I paid 290.00 OTD.  I don't have any buyer's remorse, but I'm wondering if this was a reasonable price for a carbine in this condition.  Thanks,  Essex

Given today's market, you got an outstanding deal.  Shoot it forever, you'll never wear it out.

Well I paid 250.00 for a newer model that had lived on a 4 wheeler
for the last few years. I have never seen a rifle so full of crud!
I completely disassembled it, Gave it a thorough "BATH". Reassembled
and it shoots just fine! I think you made a good decision espesially now
that no more will be made.
