Savage 99 Takedown model loose barrel fix
« on: February 04, 2007, 07:48:21 AM »
I posted this question on the gunsmithing  section and got some great advice.  I am looking for as much advice and possible solutions as possible.  I just purchased a Savage 99 in 250-300(take down) made in 1914.  The rifle needs a little cleaning, barrel looks bright.  The barrel to reciever fit is loose.  I am looking for possible fixes that would leave the rifle as original as possible, but make it shootable.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Has anyone used Lock-tite thread resrorer for this purpose?  I will not be removing the barrel once it is more stabile, but would like to keep it removeable.   Thanks, Walt
