Just took a look at Remington's 2007 Spring Catalog and the picture that they have in there of the Walnut blued SPR18 Single Shot Rifle looks pretty good!! Looks like they are improving on their selection of wood for the stocks.

I had the opportunity to hold a couple of those SPR's.  I was NOT impressed with the way the wood fit the metal. 

While fit isn't that important when it comes to performance, I am a little more choosy as to what something looks like.  Maybe I just held the ones with poor wood to metal fit, but if they had wanted me to buy one of those, the fit has to improve.  I wasn't too sure about the type of wood used either.

Americans are spoiled when it comes to wood type, fit and finish.  A higher standard than in Europe in some cases.
