How about the .35 Remington?

Already done. Just this year's classic. I believe GB got one.  :D

Fish, I don't want you whining to GB about another a personal attack, so I will just quote Ronald Reagan during the presidential debate. "There you go again."  :)
It was a CDL in .35 Whelen that GB got, and this year's classic has already been mentioned on this thread, but you must have missed it.

This years Classic, DID I MISS THE 35 REMINGTON??????????
« Reply #32 on: February 12, 2005, 08:01:45 PM »
308 tho great is a lame choice, 35 Rem or 338-06 is my choice. Remington had guts in the past to bring up wildcats. Doubt it now. Everyones got Magnum-itus of the brain.  9.3 won't work past the initial offering, Speed sells, metric calibers don't (7mm excepted)

How about the .35 Remington for next year's "classic"? It will also be this cartridge's 100th anniversary 1906-2006, and the "classic" series has never been chambered in this round. It's also a remington cartridge to boot!

I know that the classic chooses old and exotic rounds, but I want it in the 204.  I like the small rounds and have one in 221 fireball and love it.

The 30-30 Winchester would be an excellent round to chamber the Classic rifle in.

If Remington chambers the 2006 Classic in anything but the .30-06, it would prove to me once and for all, that the company is run by idiots. On the 100th year anniversary of the ultimate American sporting and military round, how could they do less?

I couldn't find that Jack...mind posting the link? Without seeing it I must say...what a load of crap  . What, are the Classics not selling or something? That's like Chevrolet ending the Corvette series. Why? They sell like M&M's...I don't get marketing strategies :?

This year will mark the 25th and final offering of the Model 700 Classic limited edition series. Dating back to 1981, the list of one-year limited edition Model 700 Classics has featured many of the truly great centerfire cartridges, and will be concluded with the 308 Win. as this year's classic cartridge.

That bites  . Oh well, I guess my email and the others to Remington really had no impact; maybe proving that Remington indeed has no customer concernment. I would have thought better of them. :D

I would think personly that remington would honour some of there own before indorsing Winchester.
3006/ 7MM rem mag  would get my vote.
Then last I heard
Remington was getting out of componets as well as dropping some of the ammo lines.

I'd like to see the Remington Classic chambered for the .222Rem.Mag.  I think Remington owes us that one for discontinuing the caliber some years ago.  My major concern is what will happen to the Classic line of rifles.  I have several from years past and have come to think of them as the best model made by Remington.  This year Remingtoin dropped the ADL model.  They also introduced the CDL model which may or may not become part of their stable.  I guess it depends on how they sell.  This leaves us to wonder about the fate of the BDL.  It's been around for quite a few years now, maybe ready to be retired.  It's hard to tell what Remington will do.  I don't feel shooters have the same faith in them as in former years.  Best wishes.

Well Cal as already stated they are discontinuing the line but I too would have liked to have seen the .222 Rem Mag. That would have been interesting    :D

I'm having a tough time figuring Remington out.  First they dropped the ADL model now I understand this is the last year for the Classic.  My last 2 Remingtons have been Classics, and I really like the model.  For all the griping and carping about Remington you rarely hear anyone beef about the Classic, regardless of the caliber.  It's simply a well made rifle, and now it's biting the dust.  Does anyone ever get the idea that Remington no longer gives a damn if we buy their rifles or not?  I guess the new CDL will carry the entire line.  Best wishes.

Hi All,

Now I have never actually seen a Remington Classic in the flesh, but's about the only new Remington I would even give a second glance to, and now their dropping it from their line up. Pure stupidity

As for chamberings, well yes I totally agree that the 06 Springfield cartridge should have been the one for 2006, choosing the .308 is an insult.

Now for a really brave move as some else suggested they could have chambered the ole 30-30 of an even braver move would have been .303 British which of course is an all time proven classic :-) However I can see why they won't do either even if the Classic line was saved. Making the rimmed tapered cartridges feed smoothly and reliably takes a little skill and a different magazine case shape.

I guess that's the cartridge you'd like to see if Remington was actually continuing the Classic line?

All I buy is Ruger's,but I do like a lot of remington cartridges.Yes, I know this is for Remington's,but I wanted to say a few things. When I look at guns new or used on a rack I have to say the only Rem. that really stands out is the Classic. They are a beautiful rifle. At the beginning of the year I always look to see what it's going to be in.This year when I saw it was going to be 308 even I thought it was stupid. :? I've never called there customer service, but it sounds like some of you have. When you lose customer service you lose customers.Maybe they havn't figured that out yet  Maybe they will before it's to late.I don't think anyone want's there Rem.'s built in japan with most of firearms we all have to choose from.

I doubt that I would have bought a Classic in .30-06, but it might have been a good idea seeing as how this is the last year of the Classic line and the caliber has so much history wrapped up in it.  It would have been a nice final hurrah to the line, but it looks like they've selected the .308Win. instead.  Best wishes.

Based on what I am seeing, the CDL SF will be the "new" limited edition offering.  Maybe they will continue the legacy of their classic series.  It did have enough impact to significantly influence the design of the CDL rifle.

The first one I owned was in .243W.  It was offered in just a few standard calibers then.  .270W, .243W, 30-06, not exactly sure of the others and may not have this short list correct.  I have owned a couple BDL's but just always liked the Classic version better.

I have a .308 and I'm gonna buy another one this afternoon.  It's the premier deer cartrige IMO.  Boringly accurate is about all you can say.
