You ready for the next BAN ?
« on: October 18, 2006, 10:25:20 AM »
I believe that will be one of the first things the DEMS do when they regain control !
I say when, because I honestly see no way to prevent it...
I honestly wonder how many Gun owners will simply hand over their firearms
when the Dems ask for them? We all know it is coming,
It is just a matter of when? We have all heard,
"When they PRY it from my cold dead fingers", But when it comes right down to it,
How many really and sincerely mean that? I feel something really bad is coming
for our country. I am a Republican, but I am not a blind one ! I see that the last few years have damaged our country. If the Dems gain power, I see things totally falling apart though.
Man I hate Politics !

S.Sumner, I really hope you're wrong, but I fear you may be right.  I can see the Dem's taking some control, at least for the short term.  If they do, we can only hope that they go so overboard that the next cycle will take care of them.

relax the sky isn't falling, yet!

Look at this logically the dem will probably win the house but not the senate. When they do they will try to introduce some gun controll measures, wich will get voted down and or vetoed. So in the end us  gun owners have lots of political ammunition to use against Hillary in 08.

That and the dems aren't dumb they know that the klinton gun ban was the main reason they got the boot back in the 90's they'll be reluctant to make that same mistake again.

Now if Hillary wins in 08 then all bets are off.

If she runs, she will win.  It's truly sad.  It won't be a case of Hillary WINNING because America wants her to be president, although there are many that want her to, it will be because the Republicans and Mr. Bush in particular have lost.  There are no undecided anymore and most will take whatever option is presented to them as long as the last name isn't Bush.

I do hope, however that the Dems have learned that gun control is a killer issue.  It has killed a lot of their candidates in recent years.

Well I voted today and ran into a couple of others, all anti Democrats! With a little luck they won't win. But if they do, what veto are you talkin' about GW only vetoed one bill in 6 years.

I think the current election and that in 08 is driven by a vote against Bush and not necessarly for the Dumbocrap party.  It is very likely that both the house and senate will be lost to democrats.

If this happens, god only knows what we may face as far a gun control is concerned.

The mud hasn't started on her yet, give it time when she makes an announcement and you will see big changes that goes against her.

Don't forget the china, silverware and furniture theft's at the White House when she left there and all the computers they trashed. That's not going to look good on her record

It really isn't about the china, silverware or furniture that disappeared from the white house, it is about a hateful, angry, spiteful, murderous (read Vince Foster) racist communist who will never get into the president's office.

She is so hated and despised by so many, including her own party that she won't, and can't win a presidential race.

However, don't for a moment underestimate the arrogant stupidity of the dumbocrats, they never learn.  In NYS we are facing the possibility of a spitzer, cuomo, klinton and shumer coalition that would be horrendously frightful for any sportsman or sportswoman.  cuomo may not win his race and spitzer is not all that favored, except in the polls taken in dumbocratland but if he wins it will mean a liberal in the governor's mansion but that may be tempered without a cuomo denying constitutionality.

And understand something else - if it gets really bad and they call for registration and confiscation it will turn into civil unrest and, most likely, a very bloody armed civil disobedience.  No governor, regardless who it is, will be able to unleash a National Guard or police crackdown all across a state just to confiscate guns based on new or arbitrary policies.  New Orleans is still too fresh in most people's minds to allow that to happen most anywhere but in the cities.  Attempts will result in bloodbaths for cops and nat'l guard alike.  Innocent citizens will suffer and if it goes far enough there may be armed attempts to remove the governor from office.

They are stupid and spiteful and may well make the attempt but it would be more costly for the dumbocratic party than they could ever possibly imagine.  And this is just my honest opinion.  Mikey.

I guess you could count on me to fight for our 2nd Amendment Rights since I have been very active on doing just that for at least the last 40 or 50 years. I email my senators regurly, call them on the phone, forward email about any up coming gun control votes, post articles on forums all over the place and would probably pop a few caps if someone was to come driving down my long secluded driveway to try and remove my guns.

As Japanese Admiral Yamamoto made this statement in 1941;  "You cannot invade the mainland United States . There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."

Mikey, I hate to be the one to spoil your day, but you heard it here first.  Obama will run, Hillary will run, somehow, in some combination, they will be running mates.  Between war heroes going to jail (Duke Cunningham), Foley forgetting what page he is on (DOH!), and Iraq, unfortunately, the Republicans won't win in 2008.  Carpetbagging Hillary (how New Yorkers voted her in, I'll never know) and this Obama kid or whomever WILL come after the guns. Guaranteed. Assault weapons ban will be back overnight. Handgun control will be the centerpiece of their administration.

Keep stocking up. I am.

Guys - if they win they will come after the guns.  Anything that can be conceived of as being turned into something 'assaultive' will be the target.  Next it will be 'there is no need for defensive firearms'.  Whether it is a spitzer, pelosi, klinton or cuomo/shumer(both came from the bottom of an oil pit), they will try.

I have said it before that you will have to count me in for the long haul.  It isn't just the gun they want, it is an unarmed citizen they want most.  There is no way in hades they want anyone to be able to stand in their way to turning this country into another communist pit of total government control.  They have already eroded our 1st Amendment rights and need to eliminate the 2nd Amendment to gain total control.  They cannot be allowed to do this.

cuomo the senior tried just that with his 'Constitutional Convention' concept but lost.  That son of a grease ball would have written the 2nd Amendment right out of the state's Constitution and the blood would have flowed.  It may yet, but I want it to be theirs, not ours.  Mikey.

I know this is kind if a crazy thing to say, But
I believe whatever happens will start in Georgia.
There is a Militi@ (spelled that way to throw off the NSA tracking
computers on the WEB ;))
that is based just out side of Carrollton.
That honestly makes me nervous ! Normally you can tell how
serious someone is in a face to face conversation, And these guys
are for real. They are mostly Veterans of various wars and POLICE actions,
but they have some big money backing them apparently.
I have no doubt that these fella's would unleash some pretty serious
wrath on the GESTAPO that came to take their guns..It will be headline news around
the world I can assure you.
It is kind of a scary thought at my age, But I would have to back up anyone
who was fighting to preserve the Constitution.. And especially the contents of the
Declaration of Independence.. God help us all if it goes this route. We can only hope that it doesn't !
I swore a long time ago to defend our FREEDOM.. I will keep my oath.

i used to hate assault rifles, but once someone tried to break into our house (twice) i've changed my mind.  i love to shoot, but even i am uncomfortable with pistols...so when my mom asked me to leave her a loaded weapon i didn't know what to tell her.  i took her to the range, and she hated the pistols;  she flinched so bad that i would be afriad for her to defend her life or someone else's with one.  however, she can control an assault rifle very well and the kick doesn't bother her nearly as much.

so, imo, i can understand gun control for pistols.  they are very easy to conceal, and too many crimes are comitted with them.  mind you, i'm not for banning them, only for making it difficult for a criminal to obtain one.

as for assault rifles, i can now see many just reasons for a civilian to have one.  again, i think criminals should never be allowed to purchase arms or ammunition through the free market, but that a citizen should have the right.

besides, our forefathers provided us the second amendment to defend ourselves not only from criminals, but from the government itself if it ever tried to disregard the Constitution.  the second amendment is the only right within the bill of rights that actually protects the bill of rights.  if the government is armed with bows and arrows, and we have only pointed sticks...we can hardly defend ourselves and our Constitutional rights.  imo, the Constitution gives us the right to have such firearms.
When the whole world is crashing down around me, atleast I'll have my SKS.

According to every law and every state I know of (BTW I do have a Criminal Justice Degree), it's already difficult for a criminal to buy or own a pistol especially if they have been convicted of a felony.

The problem with the gun control nuts in the Beltway is they want to make it difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain or own one! There's no reason in the world why someone that has never committed a crime cannot buy or carry a concealed pistol. I've been carrying one now for over 50 years and I have never committed a crime with it and never been in any trouble with carrying mine strapped under my jacket or shirt. It has made me feel mighty comfortable on a few occassions when I had it there though.

There's no reason to have gun control for pistols or any other rifles or shotguns, so I have to disagree with your statement that there is a need for it.

So in essence, what we need instead of gun control is enforcement of existing laws. If a criminal is caught with a firearm, lock their butt up and throw away the key.

i agree with you whole-heartedly; i guess i need to be sure of what "gun control" means before i start posting my opinion.

while i'm on the topic, though, it is a bit unnerving that i am not allowed to defend myself since i live at a university (considered gov't property).  especially since shootings and bombings at universities happen more often than we would like to think about.  it's even worse given the pitiful security at every campus i've ever visited (and attended).   :(

I agree, there is a problem when one cannot protect themselves and are left at the mercy of criminals and thugs. Take a look at what has been going on in the last 10 to 15 years. Places where people know guns are not allowed like schools and places like that, that's where innocent people are being killed. You never hear of a shooting at a gun show or a firing range! When bans were placed against people to not have a firearm near a school, it suddenly turned into a nightmare for people going there as there is no-one there with a firearm to prevent someone from just walking in and shooting and taking over. Case in point, in Mississippi, a teacher retrieved his firearm from his vehicle and stopped one of those nuts from shooting a bunch of kids and then they tried to convict the teacher for having a firearm in his car, but that was finally dropped after the parents reacted.

We can blame all the school shootings on our government failure! You see "gun control" at schools opened the door for someone wanting to do bodily harm or death to walk in freely and do it.

The only fairly safe place I feel without my gun is when I walk into the courthouse knowing that every single person that walks in the door has been checked. Any other place that posts a sign on their door telling me firearms are not allowed and doesn't check everyone walking in is an invitation to criminals and thugs as a place where they can walk in at will and take over.

I don't think it will start in Georgia, I think it will start right up here in the NE - next to kennedy-land and just above the shumer/klinton oil slick.

The South is still too concerned with individual freedomws to allow that to happen there, but in neu yawk, when the libs squawk, everybody within any city limits has a tendency to bend over and say yessem.  The suburbs and countryside are where it stops now but if the lib dems start in nyc they will want to move it right upstate.  For some dumb reason these people think they have to have a 'first in the nation' arrangement to show everybody else it can be done.  That's why I feel it will begin here.  It may not be the boston commons but it will be someplace like that where the forces of civil slavery have lined up across a 'Lexington Bridge' from the forces of freedom.  I just hope the forces of freedom can train well enough to assure that we eliminate the opposing leadership first - but they will be trying to do the same to us, and it won't matter who gets it first, as long as we take that day and every day after that.

Here's how it may go:  first they will begin registration and confiscation (R/C) in the cities - then the forces of the bad will move out to the burbs but will be met with resistance.  Then those bad ones will call for more of their own and so will we and it will continue until the bad go back to their holes.  We will then need to decide if we want to just let it cool down and wait for them to try again or take it right ot their own front door.  After all, we won't have to worry about an unarmed citizenry trying to stop us.  It will get messy, but it will have to.  They will either have to be eliminated or forced out.  Force them back to the cities and leave them there - give them the chance to leave, peacefully if they wish or horizontal if they don't - then take back our rights and avail them to all, without restriction, as it was in the beginning.  JMHO.  Mikey.

I agree that it will start out in big cities, but since I have several good email friends that live in upstate New York, I think if it gets to that area, it will be kind of like it would be down here in the south, they will put up a fight. The people in upstate New York will not stand for it, at least the ones that I know up there won't.

Most all of us knows what happens to crime rates in cities that have gun control laws, but the Dims don't seem to care.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Vote the Democrats in, everything will be awful.
Stick with the Republicans, everything will be great.

Except for:
Leaving the borders wide open to illegal immigration.
Pilling up the national debt to record levels.
Starting a disastrous, expensive, and unnecessary war in Iraq.

I might add that there is democrats up there in congress right now and I don't see any action from them on protecting the borders or much of anything else. All you ever hear from the dims is a bunch of whimpering about something, no action at all!

And we could just pull out of Iraq and if the dims don't take our guns away from us, we can start shooting terrorists over here with our deer rifles. I'm going down to the courthouse and see if I can buy myself a terrorists hunting permit. Also don't forget when you mention the national debt that it's always dims that add all the taxes to pay for all that, so be expecting to pay more taxes, lose your guns and have your money give away to somebody else as that is what they usually do.

structure. This is the most formidable kind of resistance because the head of the resistance cannot
be eliminated thus throwing the rest of the resistance into chaos. One act of leaderless resistance always leads to copycats. There is almost no warning to the strikes from leaderless resistance so the effects are devastating. These types of attacks are what I believe are going on in Iraq right now
and the most powerful military on earth is being tormented by them and seemingly can do nothing
to stop them. When the Democraps take control of the Senate and House, I have no doubt that
Iraq will turn into a far worse debacle than it has already been and they will pull us out !
Thus a very small group of determined fighters will have defeated the Government of the United States and will have destroyed any credibility that we may still have as a world power. I say defeated the GOVERNMENT because our soldiers hands are tied by them. There is no such thing as a politically correct war.
