So next pay the new superlight 22 hornet comes home. The first thing to decide is for the first test drive I need some factory ammo. Because I have got 4 deer tags to pay for this month so I am limited to what I can buy.
I am thinking I can get 50 rounds for the initial test drive. This test drive would be a sight-in, a little practice and a coyote or 2. The ammo I have available is the standard Winchester, Remington and Hornady. At this point I am leaning to Winchester for two reasons the big one is that the bulk brass I'll be buying later will be Winchester, and I am leary of using the small 35 gr v-max on a coyote.
What ammo would you buy
Because of weight considerations (because it is really for my boys to use as a centerfire trainer) I will keep it with iron sights. But how do I sight it in if it was scoped I would sight in dead on at 25 then move out to 100 and get it so it was 1.5-2 inches high. In this case would I just sight dead on @ 100. Also if the gun was scoped I would be hoping for a 3 shot 100 yard group under 1.5, with the v-notch should I expect someting more in the line of 3". I expect to upgrade the sights to a peep because in the spring when it's being used for ground squirrels the v-notch may not be up to the task.
