dick's 50% off 30/30 ammo

i was in Dick's sorting goods today and they had 50% off of the cheap hunting winchester and remington 30/30 ammo.  it was like 6 0r 7 a box after a mail in rebate.  i almost bought a bunch, but then i would need a barrel to go with it.

If you would have bought 25 boxes....you would have BASICALLY been able to get the barrel for free (with the money you got back on the rebate) !

My wife tries to use that logic on me ALL the time.  I wish I had HALF the money she tells me we "save".

well i did buy 7 25 round boxes of the wrong 12ga ammo   But it was cheap, but still not what i needed.  i guess i need to read the box next time.

The deal with Dick's is that it is really just the manufacturer rebates available (Remington and Winchester), which is limited to either 1 or 2 boxes each at $5 rebate (so up to $10 from each manufacturer).  While it is a great deal with the .30-30 ($10.98 a box), it can also be used with any Remington CoreLokt or Winchester SuperX Power-Point ammo.  Here is the rebate info:  (I only know about this because my Dick's didn't have any hardcopies, so I had to chase them down on-line)
