445 recoil?
« on: November 02, 2006, 12:22:49 PM »
As I stated in a previous post, I am thinking of turning my 44 into a 445.  Just started thinking and then a little reading.  What kind of recoil does this puppy have?  If it is anything like a casull, it is probably more than I want.  If you guys could compare it to your 30-06 or something common that would be great.

THanks

Those that have done it and have a .45-70 also, said it recoiled less than the .45-70, all things being equal as far as bullet weight and velocity.

If you have the Point Blank program downloaded,it has a part that shows recoil on it.You just fill in the blanks with the amount of powder and the weight of the bullet. My memory may be off,but I think the 300 gr. bullet with 30.5 grs. of 296 made 1975 fps.and 22 pds. of recoil. The 45 70 and the 30 06 were about the same with 26 or 28 pds. of recoil. Quick probably has a link to the program.   Digger
