The Winchester 94.  It is a stronger action and side by side is just as accurate and steady as the Marlin.  Both are excellent rifles.  I have 5 winchester 94s and have never had a problem with a loose screw, barrel falling out, action coming apart, trigger dropping out, action or barrel blowing or anything else.

If you are going to compare then please compare comparable rifles.  Same barrel length, same caliber, same age, same amount of useage, same sights, same type of rifling, etc.  If the rifles are not comparable you can not have a valid comparison.

I have had Marlins and think they are a great rifle.  I just prefer the Winchester.  If someone gave me one of the new Marlins I would be a very happy, very grateful camper (and hunter and shooter) but I'm not going to put one of my Winnies in the safe just so I can shoot something else.

the 1895M is very hard to beat, nothing I can think of has the power, size and handyness of the 1895M .with the factory 350 grain ammo I can't think of anything better at the price ether. nothing wrong with a 94 but you whould need to reload or buy some mighty expensive Garret or Buffalo Bore 4570 to preform like a 1895M .If Marlin would make it available in a stainless steel /synthetic stock I would buy another .forget the Winny and get the 1895M. :D woops my bad . I didn't know winchester made the 94 in the 450 marlin B4 they shut down .tha makes your choice very easy now .

Here is an option for you- http://www.marlinfirearms.com/firearms/xlr/1895MXLR.aspx

.450 Marlin, Stainless but not with a synthetic stock. If I did not have an 1895GS I would bite on one of these.

Got both, both are good. Preference for me leans towards the Winchester Timber. Easier to carry, quicker to the shoulder and faster acquisition for some reason.

The Marlin is easier to clean though, but unfortunately also is easier to jam.
