A Used LBT 460 520 LFN I lucked out
« on: October 29, 2006, 04:16:46 AM »
I got very lucky. I saw a 460 LBT mould on ebay a while back and managed to snatch it up for $50 bucks. I just cast a few with it last night and it is in excellent condition. One of the cavities leaves a small mark on the meplat of on of the bullets but other than that, it's perfect. Bulletw drop from the mould at .460 just as advertized and they weigh 523 gr. Now the 3 gr difference is most likely because I have a higher lead content in my alloy than straight WW does. It's not going to make any difference though. I bought this mould for a friend who has an original Trapdoor. The bore is on the large side at .463 but the throat is smaller at .460. I intend to cast these out of 1/30 alloy and then shoot them using AA5744. They should bump up pretty good. If any of you are still wondering if an LBT mould is worth it, let me tell you, it is, it really is. I've got 5 of them now and each one casts perfect bullets.
