NEF 22 Hornet & 20ga combo

Anyone know when that combo was available? 

Theres a lady a couple towns over that has one listed for sale at a reasonable price, but she has no knowledge as to when it was made - nor knows anything about the firearm.  (was her husbands, but he passed away).

She's not a gun/sporting person, so she has no need for them.  I tried to talk her thru on how to get the serial number, but she was hesitant on handling the firearm having no experience with them. (didn't know if it was loaded, so I told her not to handle them any farther).

Dunno for sure, but I'd guess it was one offered by the original H&R before they went belly up. There's a thread on a 44mag/20ga combo down the page, it was made in '84-'85, IIRC. If the seller will provide the serial number prefix, if it has one, build year would be easy to determine.

Yeah..  I tried to get the Ser #, but something tells me it'd be best for her not to handle them.   She knew her husband kept a couple guns loaded around the house for home defense, and she knows nothing about them.

I felt it best for her not to touch them til someone with experience cleared them.  I might see if she is ok with me stopping in to take a look at them in person tomorrow.

Here is the info on a used nickel plated 20/.22 Hornet combo that Kittery Trading Post (search KTP used guns) has had for sale for a long time. They might accept a bit less since it's been there a long time. I have checked the gun and the barrel fit seems a bit loose but I don't remember which barrel was on when I looked at it.
