I also shoot a savage ml10 II  w/ 250xtp's I get very good acuracy and preformance with them. I've tried the SST's but just haven't been able to shoot them as good as the XTP's I don't think i've ever had a group under an inch with the SST's. 1 inch and smaller is the norm w/the XTP. the average velocity is 2200fps. wich in turn gives you 1282 FPE. at 200 yds  and a drop of 6.6" when zeroed at 150. Cost is a big factor if you do alot of shooting so the 15.99 per 100 box is a bonus

bullet       .16
sabot       .15
powder    .06
primer      .03

TOTAL     .40 per round

I think SST's are .54 around w/sabot and you still need to add the powder (pellets .40 if using 100grns.) wow .94 per round
well anyhow here is a .254" group using 250xtp's  it's a 3 shot group on the right . The shot on the left was my 3nd shot of four I thought I had missed. The group top right is with the 250 SST- Kevin

You are right, 50 cents a pop, with a cute little plastic box, is a rip off. But what are you gonna do, if you want the SST for example...
I will tell you what is worse, PRbullets.
I know they give good results. I went over to that web site, I thought I should send those millionares $20 just for the "priveledge" of viewing the site. Their cheap bullets were $1 each, some of their bullets were $1.25 or more.

Until I switch to 300gr XTPs... and get a bulk/bunch on the cheap... the CheapShots & 240 XTP will do. Killed a spike last night with CheapShot, first time I've used one hunting. They're been accurate in my rifle on top of 90gr RS. Hit him from above between shoulder blade; bullet mushed  about 3" of spine and made a big hole coming out base of throat, and he went three feet (straight down). Bought a box of 20 for $3.99, which I can live with. That I got the RS for $5/lb post season sale - I bought six pounds - makes it all the sweeter. Whats that - twenty-cent bullet, around seven-eight cents for 90gr RS, and... a few cents for priimer?

Yippee... I'll let someone else shoot those PR bullets & PowerBelts!
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

;DHey Simon;  Where can you buy sabots (only) for 7 cents a piece? I have looked high & low, Midsouth has them for 6 cents  but shipping on 5 boxes is $8.55 I don't like getting ripped off any better than the next guy!!

I used the 180  grain 45 cal. xtp's on a doe this fall in our early ML season.  She was between 110 and 130 yds hit behind the front shoulder pass through she went less than 30 yds.  I just bought another 50 cal encore friday  Tuesday it will get shot at the range.  I will try xtp's and shockwaves.  I will hunt with which ever one it likes best.  In the long run that is all that matters.
