Try Buffalo's Ballets or Lee's REAL in the lighter weights starting at 50 grains charge weight, and work up to what yore shoulder kin stand. If that don't work there's a lot more conicals on the market.  ;)

Don't sell the Roundball short. A .50 RB will knock a deer down out to 100 yards.
A determining factor will be what twist rate your barrel has, and what it likes. Every barrel is unique. My 1-20 will acually shoot RB not too bad, and it shouldn't.
Try many combinations. You will eventually find what your gun likes.

I have the .54 cal deerstalker, nice little gun. I use 85g of pyrodex powder. I like using the pre lubed maxi balls.   I don't see the justification for paying $$$ for powerbelts.  I don't think there is much the powerbelt gives you over the maxi ball for ~100 yrd shot.

3dmuzzy which deerstalker did you get as they have two rates of twist the std blue has 1 in 48 twist and the stainless has 1 in 32 rate of twist.
. lyman gives max loads for the .50 cal  of 100grs ff or 90grs fff for the  240gr sabot or 100grs ff or80grs fff for the 335gr sabot or 420gr maxi i would start at 80 gr of ff with the 420gr maxi or sabots, and work from there. this is the page from there site .
bernie  :)ps if it is a bit hard to see you gan right klick the mouse and then click on view image and blow the size up.

I have had a 50 cal Deerstalker for 14 years, and it has taken many Whitetails from 10 ft to 120 yards. Sabots, several conicals, and round balls have been used in this rifle, and the round ball gets my vote as best over all. It took 2 Deer in the past 2 weeks, one at 60 yards and the other at over 100 yards. The round balls passed right through both Deer, and they are now in the freezer. The load was 80g of Pyrodex, .495 ball and 15th patch lubed with Wonderlube.
