« on: November 05, 2006, 02:22:56 PM »
You guys who shoot the .280; is it a standard contour or a heavy/bull barrel? Will i need to get a new forearm to fit?
thanks,
Ryan

It's a standard contour, but it doesn't matter as far as the forends go, all barrels except the superlights are approx the same diameter at the forend, the bull barrels just have less taper and measure approx .800" at the muzzle. The 26" .280 and .25-06 barrels measure about .675" at the muzzle.

Thank you Tim and your plethora of knowledge regarding all things handi.  In regards to the AI cartridges; is performance worth the price. I think I have decided to get .280 Rem and .35 whelen and then possibly have them "Improved". What is your opinion?
Thanks, Ryan

Dunno yet, I'll be finding out how much improvement can be gained in the Handi. At the least, I should be able to realize what would be a max load velocity in a standard .280 with pressures that are within the frame's limits due to the increased case capacity. Sounds promising anyway. ;D
