The only way a 30-30 wouldn't kill a hog is if Wal Mart sold you blanks. Just hit him where you're supposed to and he will drop like a rock.

yeah that what it is. after useing my 454 i can see no point in a bigger hand gun because if you can't kill it with that gun get a rifle. the 30/30 is one of the best short range guns(50-150 yards) i have seen and with that new ammo it's can shoot just like a mag. to me they need to make more gun that cost 200-420$ than all these mag's because all the mag's are just a smaller cal. getting the power of the next larger cal. like the 375 ultra magnum it has the same the power of a 458mag but a 375 ultra magnum gun cost more than a 458mag.

If I can't kill it with a .30-30, I don't really want to be in the woods with it in the first place!!!

I just shot a 100 pounder in the neck at about 25 yards with factory Federal 150,,,9" TC Contender,,not a quiver out him,,dead before it hit the ground,,BUT another 200 pound boar took 1 arrow in the head, another in the lungs, a 20 gauge in the lungs and than another in the lungs before it went down,,,that boar ran us all over about 100 acres through the palmettos down here in Florida,,,somedtimes they can be real hard to put!!!  I've seen some big boars over 200 take more than 1 good shot in the vitals to take down!!!

LOL!  Nothing like the adrenalin of looking for a wounded hog in the thick stuff, eh?  Most shots behind the ear end it right there.  Sometimes you don't get that shot and have to go for the vitals.  They don't always die real easy even when hit good.  They will find the thickest stuff to die in if they run off.  I shot one in ML season that only went 20 yds.  The problem was the 20 yds was so thick I had to crawl in to get her in the dark on my hands and knees.

I wouldn't crawl in the Florida palmettos to look for a record trophy or anything else!!!  We send the dogs in after them..WAY TOO MANY Eastern Diamondbacks hangin out there!!!!!
