Sons first Bird
« on: April 18, 2003, 05:29:56 PM »
Started at a spot we had been scouting for several weeks and came up  dry, not even a cluck. Were going for lunch and spotted a tom on a hillside. Snuck in and got caught in the open but bird didn't care. Thought the kid was never going to shoot. Had the bird dead to rights at least 3 times before we had to get in front of it again. Average bird for around here 20# with 9" beard. He was happy. Better than the old man. Missed a bird with the 41 mag (deflection.......really). Must of had 7 different birds gobbling. Wasn't sure which way to face. Back tomorrow for another try.
Just another worthless opinion!!
