Why do most single barrel trap guns have 34" or 32" barrels when most double guns have 30" barrels? Also does the extra barrel length serve a purpose?

I think a lot of the doubles have 32" barrels now too, but I don't know what the favorite lengths are. I believe the issue is having enough weight out front to retain momentum for a good swing and follow-through.
