who shoots a 77 international?

been lookin at them cause i LOVEEE the full length stocks. what kind of accuracy you get from these rifles i hear rifles with full length stocks arent as accurate? just something i heard. any information about this rifle would be dandyyyy!

I bought my RSI in 1984 or about then - in 250-300 caliber.  I took it to wyoming and took two antelope at 250+ yards.  Then on the way back to the motel, I caught a coyote at 200+ yards through the neck so as not to ruin the pelt.  Is it accurate?  I  thought so.
I just didn't like loosing speed because of the short barrel.

a friend shoots an old tang safety international in 6 remington this rifle was as accurate as any untill last winter we spent almost all day coyote hunting in a mild rain my mr-7 dried out fine but the ruger warped the long stock and he told me after that it was all over the place, didnt mention any group size just that it was BAD. thats my only experience. if i had to replace my rifle it would be with an international M-77 or a number 1 i just wouldnt let one get wet

I have a Mk 1 in 308 that I really love.  I haven't really wrung it out for accuracy or worked up a pet handload.  It shoots factory Rmington Cor-locs into a couple of inches which is fine for deer hunting.  I really need to put some time in with it to see what it will do.

I owned a .250 Savage model 77RSI in the 1980s and found it to be accurate and handle quite well. I now have on ein .308. I installed a NECG N-100 peep and use it for 200 yards offhand target shooting. For me, it is the best handling firearm I own, bare none.

This thread was still in my mind last weekend when I and my friends hosted our semi annual gun show.  The rifle that caught my eye was a Ruger 77 II RSI in 243 caliber.  I took the rifle to the range on Monday and after checking the three bedding screws for tightness, decided to release pressure on the center screw.  I backed it off till it was just snug.  I shot about 7 Hornaday 95 gr SST's into less than one inch at 100 yards.  Then the floorplate popped open and wouldn't close.  I discovered that the center screw had backed out to where it was loose. The other two screws had also loosened up.  After I snugged the screws back down tight, my groups opened to about 2 1/2 inches.

I went home and glass bedded the rifle so that tightening the center screw would not warp the action.   The area between the wood and metal where the center screw is located has a lot of space and it took two tries to build up the bedding.  I took the rifle back to the range and shot one inch groups again.  -  Until the barrel heated up.  A hot barrel really changes accuracy in my rifle.

I agree with targshooter-- the 77 RSI is one of my favorite rifles. Handles great, love the classic Mannlicher styling and Mauser-type action. Mine is also set up with a NECG peep sight and one of their high-visibility front beads. I highly recommend this gun! A similar rifle, certainly worthy of serious consideration if you're interested in the 77 RSI, is the CZ 550 FS. It is available in all of the same chamberings as the Ruger, and also comes with built-in scope mounts and rings (like the Ruger). One cool feature of the CZ is the availability of a detachable magazine on several models. I think they're also priced a little lower than the Rugers.

I have an International in .308 (tang safety -- older firearm).  It's topped with a 1.5 x 5 Leupold.  Killed a black bear and a wild pig with it and carried it in the field an awful lot.  I have other rifles but I seem to keep coming back to the International.  Tried and true.  Handles great.  Easy to carry.  Good match for the ever versatile .308 cartridge.

I am looking at getting one, but am waiting until after my wedding this november until I buy, I also have an uncle looking for me at the different gun shows for one in 308 or '06, for a good deal.
I really want to set it up with the NECG peep sight for a good handling woods rifle.
