Right now it is in the middle of Maryland's firearm deer season, I took out my 15 inch 209X50 encore. I started the day of on a bad note. first thing in the stand I lost a battery out of my pro-ears hearing protection lucky I always keep a full set of spars. I was getting bored so about 7:20 I took out my Can deer call (the thing that sounds like a cow mooing) and called for about 5 minutes when I saw a med. sized 6 point buck come running down the trail. I called one More time and he ran straight to me and stopped about 40 yards looking doe the hot doe he heard. I went to put the Can call in my side bag and it fell to the ground with a thud the deer didn't care I took my Encore 209x50 off the EZ hanger flipped open the scope caps and took aim. The buck didn't see anything I guess he had other things on his mind. The only shot he would give me was a quirting away shot. When I got steady I took the shot and the deer jumped and ran with his tail in the air. At first I thought I missed even though he showed signs of being hit he ran like he wasn't. I watched the deer run and he went in a big circle and I saw him fall over get up and go a few more steps and fall dead only 60 yards from my stand.
While I was waiting to make sure it was dead, I took out my cleaning stuff to give my 209x50 a field cleaning and reload and when I removed the ramrod I heard a thud under my stand. It was the ramrod thimble It pulled off during the shot! T/C is sending me out a replacement along with a screw.
I had a bad case of the drops today- Droped my battery, dropped my call, droped the thimble and dropped a deer

So far this year I have taken 4 deer. 3 with my 209x50 and 1 opening day of firearm season with my Mossberg 835.
