remington spr shotgun rifle combo

i noticed in the august field and stream that remington is advertiseing a new model spr94 combo gun. anybody have any experience with one of these or any of thier new spr lineup??

the Remington SPR94 = Spartan SPR94 = Baikal IZH94.

Remington is how selling the Baikal under the Remington name.  I believe they have worked to improved the finish.  Also, there is a SXS rifle.  It appears Spartan was a temporary name to see if the Russian stuff would sell.

I have had a Baikal for years as it was the only resonably priced comco gun in production on the market.  These guns are reliable and accurate, my 30-06 will hold a 1 inch group at 100 yards, as long as the barrel cools after the second shot.

The SPR94 is available in 30-06, 223, 208 and 22mag.  The IZH had those plus a few European calibers.
Plus the screw in chokes allow for a rifles slug and turkey choke from Colonial.

doug, thanks for your opinion! i was very curious about the accuracy of the rifle barrel. if it will put the 1st shot where it belongs thats all i care about.

I've got one of the Remington Spartan combo guns in 12 gauge over 308 Win. I put a Leupold VX-III 1.5-5 scope on it and it's held in place by Warne, low height 7.3 series rings. The Warne rings come with a recoil key that you can use or remove. I put my barrel in the milling machine and cut two cross slots in the scope rail like a Weaver style base and used the recoil keys in the rings. My gun at 100 yards will keep the 308's inside 1.5 inches for five shots. I don't let the barrel get hot while shooting. I got my gun at the begining of this year so I haven't got to deer hunt with it yet, but this summer I got 11 groundhogs with it, 7 with the rifle and 4 with the shotgun. I am absolutley tickled with this gun! Thank God we aren't limited to one gun, but if we were this would be the one I'd keep.

nice set up and nice grouping.   Where is the point of impact for your shotgun?

My 12/223 has a Leupold VX-III 2.5-8 scope and I am using B-Square rings.  I am working on modifying a Allen rifle round holder that goes on the stock to carry both shotgun and rifle rounds.

You can drill out the sling base/mounts to take the QD swivels.  And if your looking for a rifled slug or turkey choke check out colonial arms chokes.  I have take turkey at 55 yards using their turkey choke.

I have never shot the shotgun at paper although I do plan on doing it soon with some different loads of buckshot. With #8 shot it's pretty easy to hit targets thrown in the air, the scope set on 1.5 power is great for shooting with both eyes open and getting on your target fast. Some friends and I were at the range a few months ago and I had them to throw empty shotshell hulls into the air for me and I was able to hit almost all they threw. Everyone then wanted to give it a try, I think there were six of us at the range that day, the combo gun was a big hit with everyone. One groundhog I shot was close to 50 yards and I started to use the rifle but decided to see what the full choke, with a load of Remington Express lead BB shot would do at that distance. I was expecting the groundhog to at least try to make it back to it's hole, but at the shot he just melted.
I also am going to modify a cartridge/shell buttstock carrier, I have already bought the Allen shotshell holder, I'm going to leave three shell loops and rework it to hold three rifle rounds.
The Colonial Arms choke tubes that you are using, which model works in these guns?

Just wanted to let you know that I got my Allen shotshell/cartridge holder completed. Mine started out as the shotshell holder, with six loops. I cut the stitches out of three of the shotshell loops and was able to sew back in 4 rifle loops.
I had to ask my wife for a little help on the sewing machine, I think she thought it was funny but the project turned out great!
I screwed the swivel stud through the holder to really keep it in place.

sounds like a great shell holder.

I have the Turkey choke and the Rifled choke from Colonial Arms.  If you call them they are very helpful.  They will even tell you what ammo works best in each situation.  This past spring I took a 30 lb turkey at 55 yards using the Colonial ported Turkey choke.

The one SPR looks just like my Armsport 1024.  It was made by Parker Hale just before they went under.  I wonder if the plans were sold?
