Remmington Nylon Model 66

"Hello!" from the Bluegrass...

I recently purchased a nice Nylon 66. I removed the receiver housing and the "U" shaped plate on the back of the receiver easily drops out. When I try to re-install it, it won't go...I appreciate any advice.
