slugs in the pardner
« on: November 05, 2006, 03:05:00 PM »
Excuse me for not knowing any better but I have never used slugs or known of anybody that has but I was wondering if you could use slugs made for a smoothbore in a pardner with a modified choke. What kind of range could I get and what should I expect on accuarcy. Also what would be a good slug. Thanks for any reply.

Yes, you can shoot the foster or Brennekke slugs in your Pardner.  If you just have the bead sight I would limit my shots to 50 yards or so.  If you practice you could extend that range, how far is up to you.  Accuracy varies from gun to gun and from slug to slug.  Try the Winchester foster slugs and Remington Sluggers first, those are two old standbys

My Tracker I(cyl. bore, 24", 20ga) likes the Rem. Sluggers the best. I get the 1/2 oz. 1800fps. slugs.

I have a 24 inch pardner that does really well with the USA Brenneke slugs.

With a bead sight, I'm able to keep about 3.5 - 4 inch 5 shot groups at 50 yards.

Slugs thump pretty good, so I would suggest adding some weight to your stock and a recoil pad.

Your shoulder will thank you.
