Since there's so much interest in bigger and harder kicking handguns these days, I wondered whether there's a way of increasing the perceived recoil of a handgun in case you can't go out and buy the latest and biggest gun. This may even be relevant to those who can afford it because I don't think there will be many new cartridge introductions in next few years for big game hunting applications.
Here are a couple of thoughts to prime the pump, so to speak:
1) Shorten the barrel for increased muzzle blast and lighter weight
2) Use the heaviest bullets available.
3) Re-shape the grips so they dig into your hand on recoil. Or better yet, remove the grips altogether and re-shape the grip frame so that it splits your hand open every time you shoot.
4) Use powders that flash brilliantly at ignition, and create a huge white muzzle blast
5) Sell the gun you have and replace it with a titanium-scandium version of the same gun.
Some people just like recoil and I believe they ought to have it. In fact, they can have most of my recoil if they want it.
