Scope Ring Height for 3-9x40mm Elite 3200?
« on: November 15, 2006, 04:46:22 PM »
What height rings are suitable (lowest) for a 24" barrel on a Pro Hunter SS frame?  I have a Bushnell 3-9x40mm Elite 3200 that I will be mounting.  Also, what is the best or strongest scope rail.  I have heard Warne but I do not know from my own experience.  Is a windage adjustable rear ring advisable or is everything milled to a tolerance that makes it unnecessary? Thanks for any help or advice.

I have a regular Encore and  i have the med. height Talley one peice mounts. With a Burris 3x9x40 on my .50 cal and a Nikon 3x9x40 on a .280 barrel both have about 3/8 inch clearance on the barrel. I also can get by without a hammer spur. A freind just used the same mounts on his pro hunter and was able to get a 3x9x50 Zeiss on his with med rings. I think med. would be the way to go. Personally I like the Talley one peice because it fits cleanly on the gun, is light weight and is simple(one peice.) Most on this forum will surely recomend the Warne rings over the Talley  because they are steel  and the Talley is aluminum. I have had no trouble with mine and neither has my freind. You just need to look for yourself and decide. As far as windage adjustment goes I have seen no need for it, so far mine were very close. Hope this helps.

See Ya!

Meduim ...........because the rings are mounted directly on the barrel the height is the same required for any gun that the mounts are directly on the barrel..........Contender or Encore.
