Pics of different forends

Some time ago I saw a post about different forends.  Something like schnoble or schnobel or even Manlicher. I'd like to see some pictures of them.I talked to H&R and they said they had some but no pictures.

stimpy, thats a home made forend ? its sweet, im not into the red exacty, but i bet you can get a grip on that . do you have some step by step instructions, that you'd share, perhaps. . . with me ?

Glenn, I just made a "benchrest" or varmint type forend for my .204 from the factory original. I'll post pics of it sat or sun as opening day is in the morn. If you have specific ?'s you can email me from my profile.

hey as for forarms dont forgetthe two  from choate,  the survivor one and their  varmint  forarm??

well my thoughts are,  that as long as the barrel channel is correct and the mount hole must line up with lug, and the small end cap sits right then nearly any lenght and style will work, barring any ugly design or color .. true ?

hey Quick, after looking at that Choate site i was inspired. what do ya think of this idea, the Tamer stock mixed with the survivor forend ? that'd make a nice setup for my .410 wouldnt it ? .. the costs of those arent to bad at all, but ive never been a fan of the plastic stocks,  i had another make rifle with factory stocks, they felt flimsey and sounded hollow.. how are the Choate's ? solid, injected molded or what ? .. i see a full blown project here, lol ..

Glenn, I'm sorry I missed this and it's taken so long to get back to ya! I'm not a fan of the Survivor stock, which I tried on my Hornet.... and don't have a Tamer, I do have several syn monte carlos, they're on my rimfires and one of my .30-30s, but I prefer the laminated stock most of all. I also have a Choate Varmint stock which has an outstanding forend for bipod or bench shooting. The best advice I can offer is to try em and see how you like em, you should be able to find whatcha need in the NEF Classifieds with a post, or you can order the individual stock parts new as needed.

In the pictures you show above, I'm curious about the first one of the "old style forend".  I ran across two of these yesterday in a pawnshop, both had  what appears to be ultra lite 30-30 barrels with open sites, no scopes.  I noted the serial numbers so I could look them up when I got home, but forgot.  Looked at to many guns yesterday.

My question(s), when would these have been produced, and is their any collector value on them.  Reason I ask is that they were both priced at $199.95, which I thought was way high, considering you get a new one for around $220-240.  I'm looking primarily for a project gun I can "pretty up" and turn into a .357 plinker.

I have a Topper 158 .30-30 that I recently bought(Thx Kerry! ) that has a much lighter barrel than a regular contour .30-30 barrel, with all of the different offerings H&R has made, it's always possible they put the same barrels on their Handis too, and the schnabel forend has been used for a long time to my knowledge. The 7x64Brenneke in the pic was made in 2003, my 20ga Pardner made in 1991 has the same forend.

$200 is a bit high, older Handis usually go for about $125-$150 from what I've seen posted here, I recently bought a late model .223 for $125 plus shipping.

Thanks for the response.  The reason I say they were ulta lite barrels, we have a youth ultra lite in 243 we bought last year, and the barrel dimensions appear to be the same.  Even have the same extact sites.

As for the  price, that's about what I figured also.  I may go back next week and make an offer.  I tried to  deal on an older 336 yesterday when I was there, and he wouldn't budge a penney.  He still has it too.
