Finally got some range time and spent the last 3 hours doing some shooting. I had left my gun clean and loaded since last December. I had intended to hunt our late antlerless season but didn't have opportunity. So the first shot out of the barrel is the one loaded from last year, 80 grs FFFg 777, 250 SST in the black sabot. First shot is a little low but still right in the bull at 100 yards.
I then switched to the T/C 250 shockwaves with the super glide sabots and 90 grs of FFg 777(why, cause I have three lbs of it
). I spit patched after last years load and then didn't do it again until after I shot the first three shot group. I could not believe the group I shot. Three shots in 3/4" at 100 yards out of my old Knight LK 93. Thats better than the load I was using last year. I shot two more groups, spit patching between each three shots and shot another 3/4" and a 1". This is definately the load for my gun.
Then things got interesting. The groups are all to the left of the bull so I adjust the scope to center and then decide I want to raise it just an inch. I got a couple of flyers that I couldn't explain so I went down range and looked at the sabots. most of then had one petal ripped off but two didn't so I picked up the sabots and shot til I got another flyer picking up the sabots between every shot. If the sabot rips off one petal they shoot fine, if the sabot stays intact I get a flyer. I think that is a little odd but it's what happens. I couldn't get it to do it again before I ran out of bullets so I don't know what the casue is.
BTW the reason I switched sabots is the Knight is a tight bored gun and I couldn't load three shots without spit and dry patching between every shot. With the super glides I was able to load three shots without spit patching between shots and load with no problems. Shot #3 loads as easy as shot #1.
