Scope on a new Savage .17 Btvss

Which scope would you put on the new Savage .17 HMR? Is the bullet drop compensator a big deal? Cabelas with side focus or Mueller ,BSA Sweet .17?

I put a BSA on my Savage, but I looked through a bunch before I found one that was bright and clear.  That was a couple years ago and maybe they have gotten better.

The problem with the compensator is that you have to know the distance you are shooting before you get the setting right.  MY other 17 HMR has a Bushnell Elite 3200 on it and it shoots quite well also.

What power range do you recommend?

I put the longest one on mine, and at the moment I can't recall what it was.  The Sweet 17 was made in three sizes and I took the one that magnified the most.  My son currently has the rifle so I can't take a look.

Added later:  The Sweet 17 is 6X18, the Elite 3200 is 5X15.  It took a lot of looking to find one of the BSAs that was clear out to the edges, so this wouldn't be ideal to mail order.  The Bushnell is a much better scope, and cost three times as much.  It sits on a 17HMR contender barrel and the combinatiuon works great.
