Anybody here have any experience with the cutsom shop at SA??
How about any that have sen one of the custom shop offerings??

William, I have a friend that ordered a gun from Springfield Custom Shop and had mixed results.  The fit and finish of the gun was excellent.  He intended it for I.D.P.A. but when he got the gun, it's chamber was so tight that it would only chamber some brands of factory ammo and none of his reloads.  He sent it back twice to correct this problem but instead of polishing out the chamber a little for him, SA told him the chamber was in specs, to use different ammo.  He ended up buying a very tight die that he could run his finished ammo through so it would chamber and function.  Some bother on his end, but he has kept the gun and seems well pleased with it (now).  I have no experience with SA's other than his gun, but I do certainly lean toward a Colt product.  44 Man

I have been looking at several different situations--eventually in the quest for  a gun that is engraved. The thought that it might be easier to have a shop built gun and have them engrave it.
All of the major companies now seem to have custom shops---and I think that is good.
I also looked, today at several Les Baerguns, including two that were pre-owned. I was disappointed by the tightness of the slides and the, almost, inability to rack the slide--even on the pre-owned ones. The young man at Collectors Firearms, here in Houston, had trouble racking them.
It left a bad taste in my mouth.
Sig, S&W, Colt, Kimber may get a nod--though I like the looks of the Nighthawk. I really like the Bauer---and I know they have a reputation for tightness-This, however, seemed a little (well, a lot) over the edge.
