Re Accuracy ?
« on: November 19, 2006, 05:17:14 AM »
Hi All    I am posting this question because I struggle a bit with the new search system. I am sure this has been covered before. I am thinking of buying a NEF 50 cal. ,  so you who have them what kind of 100 yard groups are you getting ? bullets and powder ? thanks in advance.

I shoot a 240 grain honady xtp sabot,  and 150 grain american pioneer powder fffg.  With a scope I can easily keep a 3 inch group.  I have shot as far as 200 yards only at paper and can keep a them on a paper plate.  I am by no means a marksman, but that is good enough to kill a deer.

I use a hornady 240 gr htp with 2- 50 grain pyrodex pellets.  I have a sidekick with a simmons fixed 4x shotgun scope and have groups in the 1 1/2 to 2" range off sandbags if i do my part and hold steady.

I know with my Huntsman I can get between 1½" to 2 " groups at 100 yards, with two 50 grain pyrodex pellets, ww209 primers and 250 grain Shock-wave bullets. This combination is lethal on deer. I have been thinking of trying American Pioneer Powder, I have heard good things about it.
